The world's most popular PADI specialty

More bottom time. Less waiting around.

Enriched air is the single best upgrade most divers can make. Because nitrox holds less nitrogen than normal air, your body absorbs it more slowly — so you get longer no-decompression limits, longer dives and shorter surface intervals. On a multi-dive day in Boracay that can mean an extra dive, or simply more time with the turtles. Get certified in as little as a day, then breathe nitrox on every dive for life.

About the course

A simple gas swap that changes every dive.

Enriched air — also called nitrox or EANx — is breathing gas with less nitrogen and more oxygen than the air around you. Nitrogen is the gas that limits how long you can stay down, so breathing less of it lets you safely extend your no-decompression limits.

The result is longer dives and shorter surface intervals — which is exactly why Enriched Air Diver is the most popular PADI specialty in the world. On this course you'll learn how to analyse a nitrox tank, fill out an enriched air log and set your dive computer for nitrox, then put it to work over two relaxed dives. Most divers finish in a single day.

How it works

Become a Nitrox
Diver in two steps.

If you're 12 or older and hold a PADI Open Water certification (or qualifying cert), you can enrol. Do the theory online before you arrive, then knock out the practical and two dives in a single relaxed day with your instructor.

PADI Enriched Air e-learning

Complete the knowledge section online, whenever and wherever it suits you. You'll learn the why behind nitrox — how less nitrogen extends your no-deco limits, how to manage oxygen exposure and maximum operating depth, and how to dive enriched air safely. Work at your own pace on any device, and message your instructor any time you have a question.

The practical, plus two dives

With your instructor you'll learn to analyse a nitrox tank for its exact oxygen percentage, fill out an enriched air log and set your dive computer for nitrox. Then you put it into practice on two dives — enjoying the longer bottom times nitrox unlocks on Boracay's reefs.

What nitrox gives you

More minutes,
every single dive.

Same depth, same reef — but with nitrox in your tank, your no-decompression limit stretches. Here's roughly how much longer you can stay down on a first dive breathing EANx 32 instead of regular air.

Illustrative figures for a single no-stop dive on EANx 32. Your actual limits depend on your dive computer, the exact blend and your dive profile — your instructor walks you through it all. Shorter surface intervals between dives are a bonus on top of these numbers.

Longer dives, shorter waits — for life. Once you're certified you can breathe nitrox on every dive, anywhere in the world. It pairs perfectly with deep and wreck diving, where bottom time runs out fastest.
