From 2027, New Wave Divers becomes a PADI IDC Center — running full Instructor Development Courses on White Beach with Course Director Marcel Jansen of Asia Scuba Instructors. Train with the most advanced methods, gear and techniques, to full PADI standards. Finish as a real PADI Scuba Instructor, with real experience.
We're joining forces with Marcel Jansen, founder of Asia Scuba Instructors and a PADI Course Director with 20+ years in the industry, to bring world-class scuba instructor training to Boracay — two intakes every year, taught in our own dive structure.
New Wave Divers is dedicated to safety and to teaching people with the most advanced methods, gear, tools and techniques in diving — always following every PADI standard. The IDC is where that philosophy goes pro.

Marcel is a PADI Course Director with over 20 years in the diving industry. Born in the Netherlands, he earned a degree in engineering and worked as a mechanical engineer and software trainer before the ocean took over.
Certified as an Open Water Diver in 1999, he became a PADI Instructor in 2003 and has since dived and worked across Europe, Egypt, the Maldives, Thailand, Malaysia, the Philippines and Indonesia. In 2018 he was invited to the Course Director Training Course and earned his Course Director rating.
As founder of Asia Scuba Instructors, Marcel now leads IDCs across Thailand, Indonesia and the Philippines. He's known for an approachable, relaxed teaching style with a strong focus on building confident, capable instructors who feel ready for real-world diving jobs.

To start the Instructor Development Course you need to be a certified PADI Divemaster (or equivalent), be at least 18, have a current EFR (CPR & first aid) certification and the required logged dives. Not there yet? Our Divemaster and Rescue + EFR bundles get you fully prepared before the IDC begins.
Divemaster is the first professional rating — you guide and assist certified divers. The IDC takes you the final step to PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor, where you can independently teach and certify new divers. Many people do both with us back-to-back on our Divemaster + IDC pathway.
Yes — Rescue Diver and a current Emergency First Response (EFR) certification are prerequisites for the professional path. If you don't hold them, our complete pathway bundles EFR, Rescue, Divemaster and the IDC together so nothing is missing on exam day.
That's the whole point. Marcel teaches in a relaxed, friendly way with a strong focus on building confident, capable scuba instructors. You'll teach real, multilingual students in a working resort, so you leave with genuine experience — not just a card.
