Already have your certification card? Then the best diving in Boracay is open to you with almost no fuss. A fun dive in Boracay is simply guided recreational diving for people who are already certified — no course, no theory, no skills test. You show your card, we hand you a full set of gear and a dive computer, an instructor jumps in beside you, and the boat runs you out to the reefs, walls and wrecks that ring the island. This guide covers everything a certified diver needs to know before booking a fun dive here: who can join, what's included, the sites you'll dive, what you'll see, and how a typical dive day unfolds.
What is a fun dive?
A fun dive is a recreational dive you make purely for the enjoyment of it, once you already hold an entry-level certification such as PADI Open Water, SSI Open Water or an equivalent. Unlike a course, there's no classroom and no assessment — the whole point is to relax and explore. On a guided fun dive with our team you dive with a New Wave Divers instructor who knows the sites intimately, matches the dive to your experience, and points out the marine life you'd otherwise swim straight past. Each dive lasts around 1.5 hours in total, and most sites are only a short boat ride from White Beach.
Who can go fun diving in Boracay?
Fun diving is for certified divers of any level and any training agency — PADI, SSI, SDI, CMAS and others are all welcome. Just bring two things: your certification card and your logbook. Your card proves your qualification and your logbook helps your guide gauge your recent experience so they can pick the right sites and depth for the day. You'll dive to the limits of your certification level: newly certified Open Water divers stay in the shallower reefs, while Advanced and experienced divers can take on the deeper, current-swept sites. If it's been a while since your last dive, tell us — a quick refresher in the shallows gets your buoyancy and comfort back before you head out.
What's included on a guided fun dive
We keep it genuinely turnkey so all you have to do is dive:
- Full scuba gear — BCD, regulator, wetsuit, mask, fins and tank.
- A personal dive computer for every diver.
- An instructor guide in the water beside you, not just leading from the front.
- Boat transfers to and from the dive sites, with our staff carrying and setting up your kit.
- Weights and a full pre-dive briefing covering the site, the plan and the marine life.
Bring your card, your logbook and swimwear — we handle the rest. Start times run through the day (typically 9AM, 11AM, 1PM and 3PM), and because the sites are close, keen divers can happily go back to back.
Boracay's fun dive sites
Boracay is fringed by a largely coral reef, and we dive around 25 sites spread around the island — all a short boat ride away. There's genuine variety here for certified divers:
- Easy reef sites — shallow, colourful and full of life, perfect for newer certified divers or a gentle first dive of the trip.
- Walls and drop-offs — dramatic underwater terrain draped in soft coral and sea fans.
- Wrecks — approachable wreck dives that add a sense of exploration without technical training.
- Advanced sites like Yapak and Punta Bunga — reserved for experienced divers because of their depth and current, and where pelagic action is most likely.
Conditions and the best site change with the season and the day, which is exactly why a local guide matters — our team dives these sites daily and reads them for you. You can browse the full list on our Boracay dive sites pages, and for a curated shortlist see our guide to the top dive sites in Boracay.
What you'll see fun diving in Boracay
The reef here is busy year-round. On the shallower sites you'll drift over hard and soft coral alive with reef fish, and macro fans can hunt for nudibranchs, ghost pipefish, frogfish and other tiny, well-camouflaged critters. Sea turtles are a regular highlight, and out on the deeper sites you can meet pelagic fish such as dogtooth tuna and trevally, and — with a little luck at Yapak — whitetip reef sharks. Sightings are never guaranteed on any dive, but the variety across Boracay's sites is a big part of why certified divers keep coming back.
How a fun dive day works
It's refreshingly simple once you're certified:
- Book and check in. Reserve online or drop by the shop, and bring your card and logbook — any agency works.
- Get briefed. Your instructor matches the sites and depth to your experience and the day's conditions, then briefs the dive and the marine life you're likely to meet.
- Gear up and roll in. We set up your full kit including the dive computer, our staff carry your tank to the boat, and you splash in with your guide.
- Dive, then maybe dive again. Explore at your own pace for around 1.5 hours; if you're keen, we can run dives back to back.
Prefer a little more current and adrenaline? Boracay also has excellent drift diving — read our beginner's guide to drift diving in Boracay before you go.
Fun dive packages: dive more, pay less
A single guided fun dive starts at a modest per-dive rate, and the price drops every time you splash in when you bundle your dives into a 3-, 5- or 7-dive package — same guided dives, same gear and dive computer, just a better rate per dive that's valid for your whole stay. Because prices can change, we keep the current single-dive and package rates on the fun dive page rather than quoting a figure that might drift out of date. Booking online also earns a small cash-payment discount at the shop.
Not certified yet?
If you don't have a card yet, you're not left out. A quick look at our certified-diver options shows where fun diving fits, but the starting point for beginners is either a no-experience-needed try dive or a full certification. Try scuba first with a Discover Scuba experience, or go all the way with the PADI Open Water course — finish it and you can join fun dives anywhere in the world, Boracay included.

How much does a fun dive in Boracay cost?
A single guided fun dive is priced per dive, and the per-dive rate drops when you book a 3-, 5- or 7-dive package. Because rates can change, we list the current prices on the fun dive page rather than quoting a figure here.
