Diving Yapak

Yapak is the deepest and most dramatic dive on Boracay — a vast wall off the northern tip of the island, split into three sections known simply as Yapak 1, 2 and 3. The drop begins at around 30 m and falls away past 70 m into open blue. It is a drift dive: you descend onto the wall, let the current carry you along the face, and watch the reef on one side and open water on the other.

This is where Boracay's biggest animals show up. Tuna and trevally patrol the blue, barracuda hang in the current, and whitetip reef sharks, marble rays and eagle rays are all part of the picture. Triggerfish work the wall itself, with bannerfish, batfish, fusiliers and sweetlips schooling along the reef edge.

Yapak is strictly for experienced, comfortable divers — the depth is real and the profile leaves little room for error. It is the classic reason to take Deep Diver or Advanced Open Water with us, and Enriched Air (Nitrox) is a genuine advantage here: at these depths, extra no-decompression time is the difference between a glimpse and a proper dive.
