The dive
Diving Friday’s Reef
Friday's Reef is Boracay's favourite shallow training reef — a colourful fringing reef that starts at the mooring line around 6 m and runs out to about 12 m. Ten minutes from the dive centre, shallow, and forgiving, it is where a great many divers take their first breaths underwater.
Shallow does not mean empty. Our logs here are full of anemonefish and snapper, with trumpetfish, pufferfish, fusiliers, crabs, nudibranchs, frogfish and sea snakes all recorded regularly, and hawksbill and green turtles turning up often enough to be a realistic hope rather than a lucky break. Soft and hard corals cover the reef, and the shallow depth keeps the colour bright.
The 7–12 m range means long, relaxed bottom times and plenty of light — ideal for Discover Scuba Diving, Discover Freediving and Open Water skills, and a pleasant, low-effort fun dive for certified divers.
