3-Day Boracay Itinerary for Ocean Lovers
3-Day Boracay Itinerary for Ocean Lovers — New Wave Divers Boracay

If you love the ocean, Boracay is more than a beach — it is three days of warm, clear water with something new to do every morning. This 3-day Boracay itinerary is built for ocean lovers: a realistic, day-by-day plan that mixes scuba diving, snorkeling, freediving and even a mermaid photoshoot, with honest local tips on timing and seasons so you get the most out of every tide. Whether you have never breathed underwater or you already dive, there is a version of each day for you.

We have run dive and water trips from Boracay's White Beach since 2003, so this plan follows the rhythm of a real island day rather than a wish list. Treat it as a flexible skeleton — swap days around, stretch it to four, or double up on your favourite activity.

Before you plan: how a Boracay water day works

A few simple truths make an ocean itinerary run smoothly:

  • Mornings are calmest. Wind and boat traffic build through the day, so book water activities for the morning and keep the afternoon for the beach, food and sunset.
  • White Beach is the base; the reefs are a short boat ride away. Boracay's famous strip (Stations 1, 2 and 3) is sand, not reef — the best coral and fish are a 10–20 minute boat hop to sites like Crocodile Island, Coral Garden, Angol Point, the deeper walls at Yapak and Punta Bunga, and the Camia and Tri-Bird wrecks. There are around twenty dive sites in all, so no two days have to look alike.
  • The water is warm all year. Expect comfortable high-20s-Celsius water, so you need little more than a swimsuit and a thin wetsuit we provide.
  • Season shapes the view. The dry Amihan season (roughly November to May) brings calm seas and the best visibility — up to about 30 metres on the western coast. The Habagat season (roughly June to October) brings occasional rain and shifts the calmest water to sheltered eastern sites, so there is good diving and snorkeling year-round.
  • Book ahead. Boat schedules and start times fill up, especially in peak months. A quick message with your dates and experience level lets us line up the right activity for each morning.

Day 1 — Get in the water

Start gentle and let the ocean win you over. If you have never dived, the easiest first step is Discover Scuba Diving — no certification or experience needed, a PADI instructor beside you the whole time, and a guided dive on a shallow reef to around 12 metres. It takes a couple of hours, the minimum age is 10, and if you later decide to get certified, the fee credits toward your course.

Prefer to stay on the surface for day one? A guided snorkeling tour is the perfect warm-up: full gear, a certified guide in the water with you, photos included and a boat that takes you straight to a living reef. You will likely see clownfish, parrotfish and, with a little luck, a sea turtle — all without needing to dive.

Spend the afternoon walking White Beach, swimming, and watching the sunset from Station 1 near Willy's Rock. For a fuller breakdown of everything on offer around the main strip, see our guide to things to do in Boracay's Station 1.

Day 2 — Go a little deeper

Now that you have found your fins, day two goes further. Certified divers can book guided fun dives — any training agency is welcome, just bring your card and logbook, and we provide gear, a dive computer, a guide and the boat. Two morning dives let you pair an easy reef with a deeper wall or one of the wrecks; you can browse the full list on our Boracay dive sites pages.

Not certified yet but enjoyed day one? Day two is a great time to start your PADI Open Water course. It runs over two to four days in Boracay's calm, clear water and leaves you certified to dive anywhere in the world.

Want a completely different kind of deep? Try freediving instead — learn to relax and descend on a single breath to a gentle 10 metres on the rope, with an instructor beside you and the whole session taking around ninety minutes. It is quiet, meditative and a beautiful contrast to the bubbles of scuba.

Day 3 — Something to remember

Keep your final morning fun and photogenic. A mermaid cosplay experience is a Boracay favourite — slip into a stunning tail and pose for a guided beach photoshoot on White Beach. There is no swimming involved, it suits all ages, and the photos are the souvenir you will actually use. Families love it, and so do couples.

If you would rather be on the water, turn day three into an island-hopping snorkel trip, stringing together two reefs and a cliff-jump stop with lunch on the boat. Then close the trip the way Boracay does best: a slow sunset from the beach, ideally with your fins drying beside you.

Tailor the itinerary to you

  • First-timers: Day 1 Discover Scuba or snorkel · Day 2 snorkeling tour or start Open Water · Day 3 mermaid shoot or a second try-dive.
  • Certified divers: Day 1 two fun dives · Day 2 the deeper walls at Yapak and Punta Bunga plus a wreck · Day 3 a specialty dive or a relaxed snorkel to rest before flying.
  • Families: mix snorkeling, the mermaid shoot and the kids' Bubblemaker so everyone has a turn in the water.
  • Couples: pair a morning dive or snorkel with the sunset mermaid photoshoot for the trip's best photos.

One rule for everyone: leave at least 18–24 hours between your last dive and any flight, so plan your diving for the start of the trip rather than the final morning.

What to bring

We supply all the technical gear — mask, fins, wetsuit, tanks and weights for diving. You just need a swimsuit, a towel, reef-safe sunscreen, a hat and water. Bring any certification card and logbook if you dive, and let us know about any medical conditions in advance. Everything else, from the boat to the photos, is handled.

Ready to turn this plan into a booking? Send us your dates and we will match each morning to the right activity and the day's boat schedule.

Frequently asked questions

How many days do you need in Boracay for ocean activities?

Three full days is the sweet spot — enough to try scuba or snorkeling, go deeper or take a course, and still fit in a mermaid shoot or island hop. Two days works if you focus, and four or more lets certified divers reach every dive site at a relaxed pace.

What is the best time of year for this Boracay itinerary?

The dry Amihan season, roughly November to May, brings the calmest seas and the clearest water (visibility up to about 30 metres). The Habagat season, roughly June to October, has occasional rain but good diving and snorkeling continue at sheltered sites, so there is no truly bad time.

Do I need to know how to swim or be certified?

No. Discover Scuba Diving, snorkeling tours and the mermaid experience need no certification, and basic comfort in water is enough. If you want to dive independently, the Open Water course certifies you in two to four days.

Can I do all these activities with kids?

Yes. Snorkeling and the mermaid photoshoot suit all ages, kids aged 8+ can try the PADI Bubblemaker in shallow water, and Discover Scuba starts at age 10. We tailor the pace for families.

How much does a Boracay ocean itinerary cost?

It depends on which activities you choose. Prices are set per activity and we offer a cash and online-booking discount — check each activity's page for the current rate, or message us and we will quote your exact plan.

Should I book in advance or just turn up?

Book ahead, especially in the busy Amihan months. Morning slots and boat schedules fill quickly, and booking lets us reserve gear in your size and plan the best sequence for your dates.
