The dive
Diving Virgin Drop
Virgin Drop is a double wall for advanced divers, dropping from 14 m to 36 m in two distinct steps. The walls are draped in large sea fans and crinoids, and the structure includes a cave at the foot of the second drop — so the dive has a clear shape to it: descend, work the first wall, then commit to the deeper section if your gas and certification allow.
The sea fans and crinoids hide the small stuff — nudibranchs, moray eels and bass. Turtles and eagle rays pass along the wall, stingrays cross the sand, and juvenile sharks rest at the base of the second wall or inside the cave. Our logs here also record reef sharks, fusiliers and parrotfish.
The 36 m maximum puts Virgin Drop firmly in Advanced Open Water and Deep Diver territory. It is not a site to improvise on, and it is at its best with a guide who knows where the cave and the deeper fans sit.
