Diving Friday’s Rock

Friday's Rock is a large boulder pinnacle rising out of the sand at 12–18 m, and it is best known as a fish-feeding station. The structure concentrates life in one place, which makes it one of the easiest sites on the island to get close to fish — and one of the best for photographers who would rather work a single feature than cover ground.

Frogfish are the standout in our logs here, alongside scorpionfish, octopus, moray eels, crabs and cleaner shrimp on and around the rock. Green, hawksbill and other sea turtles are recorded frequently. Emperor fish, triggerfish and red bass hold station around the pinnacle, and stingrays cross the surrounding sand.

The moderate depth and the single, obvious feature make Friday's Rock an easy site to navigate and a reliable Open Water or Advanced Open Water training dive, as well as a straightforward fun dive.
