The dive

Diving Crocodile Island

Crocodile Island is a small island south-east of Boracay, named for its resemblance to a crocodile's head, and it is widely rated among the best diving in the area. You drift along its walls and reefs between 10 m and 25 m, with the island's shape creating varied structure to work along.

The site is unusually rich for its size. Our logs record nudibranchs, pipefish, frogfish, seahorses, scorpionfish, moray eels, lobsters, anemonefish and pufferfish, plus green and other sea turtles. Lionfish, groupers, cuttlefish and sweetlips round out the picture — a real mix of macro subjects and reef fish on the same dive.

The 10–25 m range keeps most of the site inside Open Water limits, with enough depth to interest Advanced divers. It sits on the east side of the island, so it is one of the sites we can still reach when the wind moves round — and it is best dived as a drift.
