How safety works
About the course

The fastest way into freediving — a real certification, in a single day.

The PADI Basic Freediver course is the first half of the full PADI Freediver course — perfect if you're short on time but want more than a try-out. Through your eLearning you'll learn the physiology of the breath-hold and the safety rules that make freediving such a calm, controlled sport. Then you'll join your coach in calm, confined water.

The water session is all about the two foundation disciplines: static apnea — floating in stillness, stretching one comfortable breath far beyond what you thought possible — and dynamic apnea, gliding horizontally on that same breath with smooth, efficient technique. No line, no depth, no pressure. By the end of the day you're a certified PADI Basic Freediver — and every skill credits toward the full Freediver course, where the open water and the 16-metre line are waiting.

From first breath to certified

Get certified in
only two steps.

Your coach teaches you in a relaxed, supportive environment — and in freediving, relaxed is the entire point. Here's exactly how the course unfolds, from your sofa to your certification — in a day.

1Step 01 · Before you arrive

Independent study with PADI eLearning®

PADI eLearning fits the theory into your schedule — your course, on your time. Learn how the breath-hold works, what happens in your body when you relax into it, and the buddy-system safety rules every freediver lives by. Online or offline, on a computer or phone. Reserve now to unlock it.

2Step 02 · In the water

Static & dynamic with your coach

Guided breathing and relaxation first, on dry land. Then into calm, confined water: float face-down and hold one comfortable breath in static apnea, and glide distance on a single breath in dynamic. Most students shock themselves with what their first day's breath-hold looks like.
